Call for literary artist-in-residence stays at Broumov Monastery
The literary artist-in-residence programme at Broumov Monastery is a result of the cooperation between Wrocław Literature House and two Czech partners: CzechLit – Czech Literary Centre, an institution responsible for promoting Czech literature abroad and Broumov Monastery Educational and Cultural Centre. It was preceded by a similar Czech-German project implemented between April and June 2018. Altogether, the joint activities once again establish Broumov, a small historic town located in the Sudetes, as a meeting point for the cultures of the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany.
The Polish-Czech residencies will be organized between September and November 2018. During each of the three one-months sessions, one Polish and one Czech author will stay at the Literary House located in the Broumov Monastery garden. Writers of all genres can apply, as well as book illustrators, authors of artistic and comic books, and also Polish-Czech creative duos. Czech residents are recruited by CzechLit, and Polish – by Wrocław Literature House. The stays are co-financed by Broumov Monastery Educational and Cultural Centre, which provides also logistic support for the residents.
During the residency, the selected authors will work on their own projects, and they will also creatively participate in the general idea for the residencies: "Before the border, beyond the border”. The organizers provide accommodation in guest rooms in the Literary House, a scholarship, as well as space for public project presentations at the monastery.
Deadline for applying is 15 July 2018.
