Below you’ll find a selection of our April events which may be especially interesting for non-Polish speakers. Come and check out the most literary club in Wrocław!

 

5 April 8 pm T’ien Lai & Xenony live – a concert of two bands which for years have been admired for their performances in clubs and during festivals: Xenony – exploring radical electronic music, T’ien Lai – drawing from shamanistic art and techno culture. Both bands love Philip K. Dick and Stanisław Lem. Admission: 25 zł, tickets available at Proza on the day of the concert

6 April 9 pm Improkracja feat. Julia Pietrucha – a performance by Improv Theatre Improkracja, during which songs by Julia Petrucha, the special guest of the evening, will inspire actors to improvise. Admission: 30 zł, tickets available at na www.kupbilecik.pl

7 April 11 am Cinema in Proza: Family Mornings – during the schoolyear, every Saturday morning at Proza is devoted to screenings of films for children. We present animated classics, as well as feature films for young viewers and cult animated series. Admission: free

7 April 8 pm Bluszcz live – a concert of a Wrocław-based guitar & electronics duo, playing synthwave music. Jarosław and Roman Zarodny will be accompanied on the stage by Marcin Mrówka from Oxford Drama, playing drums. Admission: 20 zł, tickets available at Proza on the day of the concert

8 April 5 pm Cinema in Proza: Literature on big screen – every Sunday we invite you to watch a film adaptation of a literary work, from classics to less known books. We mix genres, dig up movies from the past, but also select the most interesting new releases. Admission: free

10 April 8 pm Pulp Non-Fiction vol. 9: Crazy Night – true stories told in a funny way. Four performers give their funniest, truest story on the topic of "Crazy Night”. An event in English. Admission: 15 zł (regular), 10 zł (students), tickets available at www.goout.net

15 April 5 pm Cinema in Proza: Literature on big screen – every Sunday we invite you to watch a film adaptation of a literary work, from classics to less known books. We mix genres, dig up movies from the past, but also select the most interesting new releases. Admission: free

17 April 7 pm Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu) solo set + films „Cilaos” & „La Bouche” – a solo performance of the frontman of the American experimental rock band Xiu Xiu. The concert will be complemented by screenings of two short films by a Columbian director Camilo Restrepo, inspired by African music culture. Admission: 30 zł until 31.03, from 1.04: 40 zł, tickets availavle at www.peoplelovespaces.8merch.com

21 April 11 am–3 pm Bookowisko for World Book Day – spring edition of the sale of private books in Przejście Garncarskie. Everyone can come and sell books they no longer need (registration free of charge at: wdl@domliteratury.wroc.pl), and all readers are invited to come to the stalls in search of interesting and often unique books. Admission: free

21 April 4 pm An afternoon with Greek culture – three hours filled with Greek literature, music, scenery and… food. Andrzej Zybura will present a slide show entitled "Unknown Crete”, Ilias Wrazas will talk about and play rebetiko music, and Michał Bzinkowski will talk to Makis Tsitas, whose book God Is My Witness (winner of the European Union Prize for Literature) has recently been published in Poland by Książkowe Klimaty. Admission: free

24 April 18:00 A meeting with Tomer Gardi – an evening with an Israeli writer who’s been living in Berlin for many years now. His novel Broken German, an experimental work written in „broken” version of the German language, tells the story of two Berliners of Israeli origin: one roaming internet cafes and the other making futile attempts at writing a book in German. Fragments of the book will be read during the meeting. An event in German and Polish. Admission: free
